OpenSats

A non-profit funding free and open-source Bitcoin development through donations and grants — where much of the ecosystem’s FOSS work is paid for.

OpenSats is a non-profit that funds free and open-source Bitcoin development through donations and grants. A great deal of the ecosystem’s core work — wallets, protocol research, privacy tools — is unpaid or under-resourced, and OpenSats exists to route money to the people doing it.

It is not a product you use so much as infrastructure for the commons: if you have benefited from open-source Bitcoin software, this is one of the most direct ways to give back. Donations are the input and grants to developers are the output, with the organization’s transparency reports showing where the sats go.
