Volatility
How much the price swings — Bitcoin’s cost of being freely traded and young.
Volatility measures how sharply price moves over time. Bitcoin’s is high by currency standards and has drawn the “too volatile to be money” critique since day one — though its realized volatility has broadly declined as the market has deepened.
The sats-first response: volatility is a property of the fiat exchange rate, not of your bitcoin, which never changes in quantity. That is a reframing, not a refutation — both views are worth holding.
